Tomberlin - A Proven Leader In Safety, Performance & Style
Edition: January/February 2012
Whether you are playing golf, commuting to work or in the woods silently stalking game, Tomberlin has a task-specific and market-leading electric vehicle purpose-built for the occasion. True to their corporate mission, Tomberlin strives to be a world leader in the production of alternative vehicles known to combine safety, performance and styling with unsurpassed service, integrity and fun!
Tomberlin presently manufactures and sells three lines of electric vehicles: E-Merge, Vanish and ANVIL.
The E-Mergeis an electric vehicle designed for neighborhood travel, commercial use and industrial applications. It is engineered to meet the highest classification of street-legal specifications for NHTSA, thus assuring the retention of core safety features even when programmed to operate at speeds common for a PTV or NEV. The E-Merge is available in 8 different models, some of which are featured below.
The Vanishis an electric utility vehicle that meets the requirements of an LSV and is designed for recreational and utilitarian use. As an electric utility vehicle, the Vanish has significant advancements compared to the traditional golf-cart-based platforms. From AC-drive to four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes to shift-on-the-fly four-wheel-drive, it has been validated in the market through numerous alliances with popular hunting shows and Outdoor enthusiasts such as Hank Parker, Wayne Carlton, Jimmy Sites, Craig Morgan, and the team from Dead Zone Outdoors… Matt Morrett of Hunter’s Specialties probably said it best-“This Ain’t No Buggy!”
The Anvilis a wide-track LSV designed primarily for the commercial and close-in-commuter markets. It is completely powered by electricity and controlled by AC power. It combines the latest advances in LSV technology and offers operator-in-charge technology, which allows the driver to adjust the vehicles performance and range. The Anvil provides a non-polluting, zero-emission alternative to short commutes in America’s neighborhoods. This vehicle has been engineered to function as an MSV with adaptive OEM controlled changes to assure Tomberlin quick access to the MSV market in the event this classification is adopted.
The Anvil features WideTrack™ Technology offering an enhanced visual awareness and segment-leading stability. The 62” wheel track and 70” wheelbase allows for European straight-in parking, tight turning radius and commercial applications with a 48” open fold-away rear seat deck space. Its’ adaptability is incomparable as Tomberlin seeks to establish a specialized class of ECCV vehicles of City Cars similar and compliant with various state MSV regulations.
Approximately 15 billion miles are driven by Americans on a weekly basis for short commuting within seven miles of home on local roads. With this in mind, Tomberlin continues to work on new products and improving existing lines in its efforts to be a leader in design and innovation. For example, the E-Motion concept was America’s first LSV equipped with the latest in air-cushion crash protection. The E-Motion is Tomberlin’s vision for a city-car concept that produces a more functional task-oriented vehicle centered on making routine daily tasks fun, quick, clean and economical. It reflects our recognition that we are participating in a global market where competition ranges from combustion to bicycles.
In an effort to build support
familiarize Congress with the Electric Close-in Commuter Vehicle (ECCV) class of vehicles, Tomberlin demonstrated two of its E-Motion city-cars in Washington, D.C., and future plans involve lobbying for an ECCV that will travel 35 mph on a 45 mph street. The visit increased congressional support and awareness for the needs and benefits of this new class of vehicle. While outside of the congressional office buildings in Washington, D.C., members of congress and aids were able to test drive the E-Motion.
Tomberlin prides itself in constant product innovation, revolutionary market development and an entrepreneurial spirit while maintaining core cultural values. The company strategy has always been to lead with safety, performance and style.
Lead in safety...
We are committed to providing safe vehicles and believe safety drives quality, integrity, sourcing, supplier standards, designs, features and channel delivery. Tomberlin was the first to call on the industry to require all LSVs and PTVs to have mandatory front brakes. Tomberlin also was the first manufacturer to offer redundant rear brake lighting and to concept an LSV with air-cushion crash protection. This feature is currently in the design and testing stage.
Tomberlin safety features include the two-speed key switch, redundant parking brake, four-wheel hydraulic brakes, rack & pinion steering and high-mount stop lamp.
Lead in Performance...
Tomberlin is a performance-based company. We expect the highest level of performance in every area from our engineering team to our customer-service representatives. The expectation for excellence drives an acute awareness that the product must deliver a positive driver experience that is not to be forgotten. Key performance features include: four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes, double-ended rack and pinion steering, true independent front suspension and AC drive systems on select models just to name a few.
Lead in Style...
Styling is often the foremost ingredient in building brand recognition and differentiation. The Tomberlin styling is distinctive, recognizable and increasingly important to our target audience. Our styling reflects a purposeful intent to stand apart from the competition, not just in performance. The front-end styling of the E-Merge is patent-protected and contains six recessed vertical bars, symmetric along a center vertical line with diminishing height and a trapezoidal head lamp turn signal configuration. Current trade dress patents are secured in America, China, Costa Rica, Mexico and pending in numerous other countries.
Tomberlin’s focus on innovation as demonstrated in our market leading products encourages the stream of ideas from the mail room to the boardroom. All the innovations are examples of Tomberlin’s increased passion for driving change in everyday items often taken for granted. This creativity is focused on understanding the consumer to better evaluate and aid us in our product development efforts.
Tomberlin utilizes best practices in managing our quality assurance process and delivers value-added products into the markets we serve. Whether it’s the development of design patents and trademarks, authorizing individual vender qualification, selection and dual sourcing, retaining ownership of all key tooling, or having dedicated engineers oversee the quality control of products at the point of manufacturing in each production facility, there is a focus and emphasis on delivering only the best products to our customers.
Tomberlin Automotive Group, Inc.’s corporate offices, parts warehouse, technical support and light-assembly facility are located in Augusta, Georgia.
