Trojan Battery Continues To Improve And Research New Technology

Edition: November/December 2011

Trojan Battery engineers its deep-cycle flooded golf batteries to provide rugged durability, outstanding performance and long life. Ranging from 6-volt, 8-volt and 12-volt deep-cycle flooded offerings, Trojan batteries feature proprietary technology, including Trojan’s T2 technology which is designed to extend battery life and enhance performance.

Trojan’s T2 technology integrates a series of refinements that enhance performance characteristics resulting in a more robust battery design. Engineered to address the increasing performance demands of golf cars, T2 technology builds upon Trojan’s historically-proven engineering expertise and incorporates improvements in electrochemical processing and battery design to achieve maximum sustained performance and deliver more total energy. Improvements include enhancements in Alpha Plus® Paste and the Maxguard® separator design.

Trojan’s Alpha Plus Paste with T2 technology optimizes the battery’s active material improving battery performance. Its unique grid design enhances the Alpha Plus Paste boosting current flow and reducing overall corrosion. Trojan’s Maxguard T2 separator features a multi-rib geometry which keeps acid channels open longer strengthening the electrochemical process while reducing the risk of stratification. A fortified, thick back web provides even greater separator strength resulting in increased protection against failures caused by separator degradation.

To maximize the performance and overall life of Trojan’s deep-cycle flooded batteries, periodic watering is critical. Trojan’s HydroLink single-point watering system makes what is otherwise a time-consuming and sometimes messy job an easy and simple task.

HydroLink is designed to work with Trojan’s 6-volt, 8-volt and 12-volt flooded batteries and takes the guesswork out of the watering process.  With one simple snap of a single connection from the watering tube into each HydroLink, the system is ready to use. Once installed, a complete set of batteries can be filled in less than 30 seconds.

Trojan offers specially configured HydroLink watering systems to fit the market’s major golf car brands including E-Z-GO, Yamaha and Club Car.   Clampless tubing, which is universal and can be modified to fit any brand of golf car, is also available.

In September 2011, Trojan Battery announced its alliance with Palladium Energy to explore the development of lithium battery technologies for Trojan’s key markets including the golf car battery industry.

The market interest for lithium-based battery solutions continues to grow. Traditionally used in portable consumer electronic devices, advances in lithium-based battery packs now enable the use of smaller, lightweight footprints with increased energy density in a broad range of applications, such as golf cars, that require long-lasting battery power.

Quality and innovation are the cornerstones of Trojan’s product development. As the leading manufacturer of flooded, deep-cycle batteries, Trojan retains two state-of-the art research and development centers dedicated exclusively to battery technology and innovation. Engineering teams, backed by over 200 years of deep-cycle development expertise, work together to innovate and bring to market advanced battery technologies that exceed our customer’s expectations for outstanding battery performance.
